Those who
seldom laugh are among the most dangerous in the world. But the Christmas
story assures us that not even such Herods can kill the joy of those who seek
the One whose birth has brought “good tidings of great joy” (Luke 2; Matthew
2). So learn to laugh at your circumstances. Laughter is an effective
weapon against fear, worry, gloom, depression, resentment, self-pity, and hurt.
The hard blows of life will try to bend you out of shape, but laughter will
keep you resilient. So whether yours is the quiet laugh of Sarah (Genesis
18:1-15; 21:1-6), the season’s boom of Ho, ho, ho…, or the regular hearty Ha,
ha, ha... or He, he, he…, let’s all live happily ever laughter. Merry
Xmas!—Samuel Koranteng Pipim
